I know its a bit early... but I like to be organised. With the impending Demise of my 2009 trek fuel ex and impending purchase of a new Full suss (If YT get any more Capra XLs in stock!), Im thinking of transferring all of the kit from my trek to one of these (Dartmoor Primal 26650b):

Pretty much everything will fit on new bike (even the reverb - will need new seat clamp). Just wondering whats a goodish headset that will fit on this for my 1 1/8 sektors? Any ideas.....

this is useful

according to the bike website you need an IS42/IS52 headset so this should do the job

Is that just the lower headset or does it come as a set

Nice looking frame but always wondered about those that allow you to run two wheel sizes. That and the fact the largest frame is 18' which for us taller riders is likely to come up short.

Plenty of good things on here about Dartmoor bikes, great vfm

Was a bit concerned about that myself at first, but I'm led to believe an 18" will be fine (touches wood) - I'm 6'2".

Anyway, frame ordered and ordered a headset too - Dartmoor do their own IS42/IS52 headset (BLINK i think)

UPDATE:
Been forced (by knackered shock and own ham-fistedness) to build up the hardtail a bit earlier than planned. Frame appears to be a vert similar size to old Trek but slacker geometry. I've been furiously cleaning all my shoddy old kit from the Trek so it doesnt detract from the new frames loveliness.
Heres a couple of pics from the build so far....quite excited at the prospect of getting on it and riding it!!

Nearly went for a hornet myself ... but I don't think it'll take a front mech. Very nice frames.

Well spotted...No she died along time ago but those chairs were hers! I have no excuse for the dreadful cushion or net curtains. 😳

Reverb and saddle on - not sure where I'll route the reverb cable - probably have to clip it to rear brake cable with cable ties:

A few more bits on last night...nearly there. Cabling seemed to take forever, had to shorten both brake hoses and reverb hose. Gear cables were surprisingly quick to thread through the frame. Had to ditch my derailleur for a top swing which I had on my old Kona. Still need to put that on and shorten forks/insert star nut then I'm ready for off! Had a pedal round the block last night - bike feels good. I've spared you my 'nans' conservatory for my patio. Positive comments on my new gravel will be greatly appreciated. So, in true 'Triggers broom' style, here's my Trek Fuel EX7 2009 (one original part still remains - shouldn't be too hard to spot it):

Did you deliberately set up those backgrounds? Where to start!

And those cushions appear to be having a conversation, I think they can't see the telly coz someone has left half a bike in front of it! 🙂

Really like that, God I love hardtails!....I'd have a house full if I could.

(Is the stem from the old Trek!?)

I thought the same once I'd built it up but the Renthals are growing on me.

I have a hose 'hook' but can't be arsed to use it 😉

Rear wheel from the trek?

Well spotted that man..... I'd forgotten about the wheel (should be a superstar to match the front but no axle at the mo). So theres actually 2 original items from the Trek.

That looks real nice. How are you finding the size?

Not done any proper miles yet but feels good - As mentioned above I'm 6'2" and the frame is an 18". Feels very similar to my old trek size-wise if a little slacker up front. Reverb actually sits lower in the frame than it did on the trek.

Looks very nice but would you take that down a trail centre, in Wales, on an uplift day, at a place that rhymes with half a sting dog.

*agree, needs black bars.

**that observation about the cushions chatting is fantastic!

Yep, slack angles and mid/long travel forks are great fun at those places....haven't touched my FS since building my hardtail late last year....no problems at BPW, FoD, Black Mountains Cycle Centre etc etc...all uplift days, all great fun...haven't tried Antur yet but only because North Wales is a pig to get to from mine.

At my skill level the limiting factor is me not the bike.

Been very tempted by these cheap Polish imports (nice looking frames with the right angles) myself but the "Ride Your Way" makes me double cringe.

Would grind it off back to the metal just to be sure! would be a super sweet garage partner to a Spank Puff build.
