Need some mudguards for my cross light, looking at the sks chromplasticks or the race guards, any experience of these?

Need them to fit 28 x 1.35 sammy slicks, frame has mounts for full guards so I guess best to use them and go for the chrome plastics instead of the race guards which mount onto the frame probably damaging the paintwork?

Chromoplastics are a million times better than raceblades.

You could knit a better mud guard than a raceblade - no reason to use them if your frame has full mounts. Full length guards have place on commuting bike all year round - best invetion ever

Sks chromoplastics do their job well but can be a right faff to fit. I did spy some nifty looking bontrager guards in Alpine bikes that look worth a shot....

Also I've got discs, and bode needed to avoid the brake clippers?

The cross light did come with an angle bracket thing for the rear I think, but not sure about the front.

from Ribble, £25 seem great.

but MussEd is right they can be a bit fiddly to fit

SKS Chromoplastics are the best.

Despite the coments above they are quite easy to fit - take both wheels out and put frame on a workstand. Fasten them in situ, but don't fully tighten. Pop wheels back in - align guards to suit and tighten. POP.

I got some SKS Longboards with a frame I bought second-hand recently. They look good and strong. I'll be keeping them to use for the new build:

Will I need some sort of modification to deal with my disc brakes then?

I run SKS Chromoplastics on my Tripster (with discs front and rear). It took a while, but I kinked the stays to fit and they run perfectly. I'm a stickler for a quiet bike, so fitted self adhesive foam pads to stop any rattles between guard and frame. Just take a bit of time over it and you'll find the SKS are fit and forget.

As others have suggested, they're chalk and cheese compared to the raceguard type ones. If you've got proper mudguard fitting capability you might as well fit some decent guards - the race blades are fine if you're running a close clearance race frame without mudguard braze ons.

another vote for sks chromoplastics which i have on my On-One Popetemaine. They are great for keeping spray and crud at bay and make commuting even more enjoyable.
