Silk mix ski socks, if you don't want waterproof ones. Aldi and Decathlon do great value ones.

I have had a couple of years out of an endura pair and they are still going strong.

Caveat- with trousers over the top. They don't seal well on me and result in feet in a puddle when worn with shorts.

Woolie Boolies with a Gore Tex over sock if it’s really wet.

I have a few, merino, Sealskins and Dexshell. Merino are good for all but the coldest weather, sealskins are warmest but tend to fall to bits in a season and Dexshell last the best with regular washing but are not quite as warm.

Woolie Boolies or hiking socks for me, with a water-resistant shoe that's not too tight.

Winterboots or overshoes. Waterproof socks if it's going to be a massively soggy ride.

Never liked the feeling of sealskins or gore socks so it's winter boots & ski socks for me. I like the extra length of ski socks for keeping my calves warm and am fairly convinced it helps with circulation to my feet.

And bigger shoes to put them in. No point in adding thicker and/or waterproof socks if your feet are going to get all squashed up and reduce the circulation as it’s negate any benefits that the warmer/drier socks will offer.

My wife uses washing up gloves with the fingers cut off as gaiters over her winter boots.

I have summer DexShell socks (rated 1/5 for warmth). They feel pretty good. Hated the rubber, non-flexible sealskins I started with.

I have hiking socks for my waterproof boots when hiking mountains, but now want waterproof winter socks for riding and hiking (because I don't trust waterproof boots) . I have enough room in my 510s for the warmer DexShell socks, but can't decide between 4/5 or 5/5 rated versions. I'm not sure just how extreme they go to.

Let that page load (slowly) and scroll down and you'll see images of the entire range on one page (handy), with a thermal guideline rating slider.

Matty told Hatty
About a thing she saw
Had two big horns
And a wooly jaw
Wooly bully
Wooly bully
Yeah drive
Wooly bully
Wooly bully
Wooly bully
Hatty told Matty
Let's don't take no chance
Let's not be L-seven
Come and learn to dance
Wooly bully
Wooly bully
Wooly bully
Wooly bully
Wooly bully
Watch it now, watch it watch it watch it
Ay
Ay, drive, drive, drive
Matty told Hatty
That's the thing to do
Get you someone really
Pull the wool with you
Wooly bully
Wooly bully
Wooly bully
Wooly bully
Wooly bully
