I have an ‘itch’ to get a different type of winter road bike and I’m wondering if one of those ‘adventure bikes’ might be what I’m after.
Last winter I road my single speed and in less shitty weather my second best carbon summer bike, the SS has gone and I now have a best summer bike and the second best summer bike (plus my mtb).
I’m currently looking at a couple of framesets:
Mason Bokeh - aluminium.
Enigma Escape.
Both will take large slicks and mud guards and handle the less than perfect winter roads round here.
Has anyone experience with these bikes? I’d be running 700 wheels.
I’ve discounted a traditional winter bike as if I were to do that option I may as well just keep and use the second best summer bike I have. (If I buy one of the above I’ll use the other bike as a donor for groupset - Ultegra, plus finishing kit and buy new wheels and Ultegra disc brakes).
Thoughts please, thanks.
They ain't cheap, but have you looked at the Salsa Cutthroat Even has room for manly 2.35" tyres, if you want to go that large.
