Where is good for somewhere to ride enduroish stuff? Obviously avoiding skool holidays is cheaper so where has good weather in Jan??
I have seen some stuff in Spain can't remember what they were called though.
Anywhere else worth considering, that would be easy to fly to from Gatwick?

Switchbacks?
South of France, where they do the Rock D'Azure event each year. I rode the event and also rode there one Xmass. Blue sky's, warm days. Perfect.
Early mornings started at about 8 degrees, warmed up by lunchtime to 12-15 degrees. Dry and lovely.
Tenerife or Madeira?
Madeira.
lavatrax in tenerife, or switchbacks in malaga.
tenerife will be warmer and less likely to rain, either would be far preferable to biking in the uk

Hmm, tbh the Slurrey hills can be like that in Jan..
Tasmania?
A mate went to Portugal last year in January for a month ..came back with a tan and a whole host of good riding ..
Hawaii
We've been to Portugal (Algarve) last two years for Christmas but I've only managed a couple of days biking but it showed good promise, I hired a bike & traced the coast path west from Vilamoura for 25+ mile then on another day did some riding in the hills near Silves following GPX routes but I had mates in a hire car for uplifts.
We had zero rain & 24C during the week last December.
I'm sure the Med east of Nice must have some good riding & weather that time of year also.
Mallorca should be good, but Tenerife prob better.
New Zealand, not exactly easy to fly too mind.
From the old MBUK vid days (Getta Grip?) the canaries looked ok, bit barren though, didn't look that much fun to me.
Madeira looked good in that ratboy Santa Cruz vid too.
Is Switchbacks all gap jumps and mega drops (like the videos I’ve seen) or are there just some nice long descents?
I can personally recommend Darren at Lavatrax in Tenerife and Jon at Freeride Madeira. Both will see you right for cracking trails in relatively warm climates for that time of year.
The climate down on the Southern coast of Spain is good most of the Winter. Mostly sunny with a few wet days each month.

Sierra Nevada, Andalucia, southern Spain, best winter climate and trails in Europe.
Spent last Christmas in Andalucia. Blue skies, very pleasant day temperatures.
Hello Dave.
South Africa, overnight flight no time difference and dirt cheap.
