Which tend to be the best option?

Bib longs + long waterproof shorts

Bib longs + waterproof trouser

Waterproof bib longs + regular shorts

Waterproof trousers

Above considerations are for xc, trail, bimble or whatever you want to call it.

Im thinking for uplift and dh days, bib longs and waterproof trousers.

What's everyones input?

3/4 length bibs normally, full length bibs when it gets really cold, shorts and knee warmers if I feel it may warm up.

I tend to dispense with baggies in the winter as in the mud and rain lycra is much warmer and more comfortable.

shorts and knee warmers (with lycra bibs underneath) or windproof bibs.

Either option and mudguards on the bike.

Bib longs + long waterproof shorts

This when it's very cold, otherwise just the 3/4 waterproofs on the winter off road commute. I've tried knee warmers with the 3/4 but unless I'm wearing lycra underneath they won't stay up and I don't bother with lycra for a 6 mile each way ride.

Roubaix longs

Or

Baggies with ronhills underneath.

Although I did once turn upto one of Phils sexyparties in roubaix longs and DH jersey.

Waterproof shorts, kneepads. Lower legs don't feel the cold too much IME and deal with mud better than anything else I've tried.

For MTBing last winter a combo of winter boots + sealskinz knee-length socks + g-form pads + bib-shorts + 3/4 gore waterproof shorts worked well, only needed to add a thin merino liner sock when it got really cold.

Endura Stealth tights (although the Lite version would be better in warmer winter weather).

A sleeveless Tri top or short lseeve jersey underneath a NW Blade jacket.

Stealth jacket comes out if it's really early/chilly.

Pearl Izumi Gavia gloves also when it's cold/wet.

Sidi Diablo for the feet.

Buff most of the time or a skull cap if it's minus figures.

Bib tights and leg warmers. Or bib shorts with knee pads and thick sealskinz pulled up.

A good combo for summer - no leg warmers - and then add leggies for the winter. Bib cost plus leg warmers, plus versatile to take off if I get warmer or cold

Baggies with ronhills underneath.

And a shitty stick to beat off the women.
