For about the last 20 years my winter jacket has been one of these

It's been getting a bit threadbare and last week the zip finally died. It was a water repellent, breathable softshell. Foska don't seem to do their winter jackets any more, and Endura no longer do the Stealth. So, what would STW recommend?
Check out Galibier. They're well priced as well.

Galibier stuff is great, I’ve got the old mistral pro and it’s top. I also picked up a castelli alpha ros for 50% off at sigma sport recently. Think still on offer. It seems excellent too.
Gore Phantom comes highly recommended as well

Or any cheap softshell from the likes of:
- Sports pursuit
- Planet X
- Decathlon
- Anything in the sale
Another vote for Galibier - I've got their Zoncolan Foul Weather Gillet and it's been amazing all winter (I run hot, so full jackets reserved for proper rain with me).
