You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Following up my first post https://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/winter-boots-for-flats-on-the-cheap-used-salomons-or-something-else/ and doing some research, I reckon if I'm first getting something, I might as well get something better that'll last. Adds to the joy of riding etc, pluss my OCD doesn't like poor quality stuff.
The BOA lacing system is brilliant and I use it on my Olympic lifting shoes, ideally I'd want something like this:
Helly Hansen ALNA Waterproof 100GBP, unfortunately they have leather uppers.

Anything cow friendly that might fit the bill?
these, and buy some speed laces. boa is crap in mud.
@ton Not really gonna use them in mud, more rain, snow so BOA should be fine, but those look great, speed laces? Any specific brand? Never heard of before now.
Columbias are 115 GBP

Went ahead and got the Adidas Conrax Terrex, love em so far! Warm but not sweaty. The BOA system is genius and extremely robust (at least this beefy model).

I seem to recall there's a company advertising that they'll pop a 5-Ten sole on any boot. So, one of these options with a flat sole and a replacement sticky rubber conversion should be brilliant. Not a cheap option though.
I've bought second-hand walking boots from Inov-8 off eBay and got them resoled with 5-10 rubber (shop in Chesterfield). Works very well and reasonably cost-effective.
