Trying to guess what size winter boots I might require.
Currently I have: Specialized Sonoma size 46 and Sidi Iron size 47.
I'm looking at Shimano MW81, Northwave Celsius and Northwave Celsius Artic. Anyone able to give me a steer from experience as to what size I'd likely need?
(Any other comments on experiences with those boots appreciated; I suffer badly from cold feet and I'm after something to keep them warm on winter road rides, not something to deal with the rigours of off-road.)
Cheers
At least a 47. Generally, you want to go up one size from Specialized to Shimano. If you intend wearing thick socks underneath, best go up another.
I've had a 42 in a Shimano and went for the same in the Northwave Arctic, too big and really a 41.5 would be better. The Shimano is far too tight with two socks on. In a normal Sidi I'm a 42.
Shimano do seem to come up small. I have the MW81s in a 48 but am consistently a 46 in most shoes and there's not much extra room when I've got my woolie boolies on. Given the mild winter I've not tested them out in anything too chilly but they seem cosy enough.
I has plumped for Northwave Artics in 47 - we shall see 🙂
Cheers
