My Montane featherlite is looking very worn and holes are starting to appear, so I am now looking for a replacement.

Going to try something different, but it needs to be packable/small, ideally with a full zip too (as I run very warm).

I always felt that the featherlite was a bit boil in the bag for me. Any ideas?

The new Montane Minimus looks good - packs down small as it the latest Pertex shell that's also waterproof.

I did look at the mimimus, but its more than I want to spend, as I have have habit of 'damaging' jackets 😉

paramo fuera smock

no full length zip, but a very effective half zip.
doesn't pack as small as a featherlight, but it is much nicer to wear, and breathes a LOT better.. pretty effective as a showerproof jacket too.

I love mine when it is too warm for waterproofs.

If it's the right size for you, this looks like a bargain -

I use the paramo fuera as well ( got the jacket version though ). It's my " go to " jacket during the summer months when out on my bike when a full on waterproof just gets to hot. Proof it with some nikwax tx direct and it will stand a good shower. Also will stand a bit more hammer than a montane. Fallen off several times with no ill effect.

Just bought an Endura pakajak myself, seemed quite a good fit in the shop and packs down small - admittedly I haven't worn it out on the bike yet though... http://www.endura.co.uk/Product.aspx?dept_id=122&prod_id=454
Think it was £35 or £40

+1 for the Paramo Fuera

A bit heavier but one of the most comfortable bits of kit I own. Very shower proof but with another Paramo item underneath, fully waterproof (don't ask me to explain Paramo's waterproofing system, it'll take a page)

FuzzyWuzzy - let me know how you get on with the pakajak, as I have read one or two reviews saying it doesn't breath very well.

But its a new product so not much info on its performance yet.
