I've got a problem which has absolutely stumped me so I'm asking here before posting on a computer-centric forum.
Quite a large amount of my data (photos, music and films) have disappeared and I can't find them in folders or libraries in Windows 8. First thought after searching is that I've deleted them, never to be seen again. But after re-installing iTunes I can now see all music (albeit in iTunes only). When I right-clight on a song to view in Windows Explorer it takes me to the album within the artist in the iTunes hierarchy. If I try to navigate to the same place in Windows Explorer I can't see the folder within My Music.
Similarly in My Pictures, I KNOW there's a folder there named '2012' but I can't navigate to it. However, if I manually type C:\Users\Username\Pictures\2012 then it takes me to the folder. I thought it might be luck but if I type in C:\Users\Username\Pictures\today for example, it tells me the folder named 'today' doesn't exist.
It seems like it's something so basic but I'm buggered if I can figure it out. I've looked at all the folder properties, tried numerous Google and Bing searches and I'm getting nowhere.
If you've managed to read all that then thanks. Any help or advice will be really appreciated!
assuming it's like Win7, make sure that you "My Pictures" properties refers to the correct folder. I get to that by opening My Pictures then right-clicking the wee icon bottom left and selecting "Properties"..."Location"
Thanks but that all seems correct.
I've imported some new photos into My Pictures and they're still there. Just can't see any of the older stuff.
F*** me in the eye! I'd somehow managed to select all subfolders as 'hidden'. No idea when or how. Don't I feel stupid?! 😳
As you were...
