Randomly got notified a couple of days ago that Toyota had used one of my photos on a website without asking permission - This photo

In fact they'd used and linked to about 30 different photographer's work on Flickr, without asking anyone! Tut tut 😕

Anyway just had an email from Toyota offering an apology and $500 8) Sweet!

I'm decided I'm going to give $100 of it to charity, so what shall I buy with the rest?

What cool piece of bicycling ephemera shall I purchase with my free money?

is that all they are due you?

you want to be investigating how much benefit they have had from using your work...

failing that a nice new set of wheels.

I dunno, if they had used a stock image they would only have paid a smaller flat rate for it (I don't know what that is but probably $100-200?)

Anyway, no-ones been hurt (well a couple of the pro-photographers whose work was used are being a bit hissy over it!) and $500 for a holiday snap I took in 2002 on a 2.1mp camera seems fine to me!

Hmmm, wheels you say? Might be nice 8)

aye forgot to mention that bit. good work sir!

my GF pays for a wee lad in Uganda to go to school. we get letters and school reports of him. he has poor timekeeping but excellent cleanliness and he is improving his english a lot. it is a lovely thing.

Things that cost the most, yet save the least weight

Titanium bolts, nuts and washers?

trawl fleabay for something frivolous that you can work on over time, eg an old zaskar or some such classic.
