Riding from Winchester along Easton Lane to the roundabout by junction 9 of the M3 and the A34. How does one join the bridleway at that roundabout to head to Easton village?

Thanks. 🙂

theres a subway.

join the pavement from tescos entrance and go under the RB.

also is there a reason for cycling easton lane? it's not awful but not nice.

Try cycle path by the river from bridge street, wharf hill, east hill, petersfield road, turn left and follow the path all the way to tesco.

😀

Thank you thom. 🙂 I've seen an interesting circular route that starts at Avington. Looking at the map I could just come off the B3047 as I've no reason to go through Winchester.

Is it possible to use the footpath at Abbots Worthy to cross the weirs and under the M3?

You need the skills of Underhill. I will poke a stick at him and see if he rises to the bait....

I'm assuming AndyRT means me even though he can't get my name right!
thomthumb is right about the subway and you can avoid riding Easton Lane by cutting up through Winnall past the flats to Tescos.
You always could use the Abbots Worthy footpath, there's a bridleway to it from Easton. But it's years since I've been down there and as it pretty much goes through someone's garden so probably best to push.
If its any use CG, the dismantled railway running parallel to the B3047 is rideable from Bridget's Lane to Itchen Abbas. Officially now a footpath with permissive cycling access 🙂

Thanks again. That is good news for the dismantled railway - they now just need to continue to New Alresford! Bound to be some folk who commute into Winchester.
