quoted £80 for a replacement from a well known company which I thinks a bit steep,so will probably keep riding it untill it goes but will it? or can I be safe in the knowledge my bits will be ok?

Stuff a wooden dowel up it. If it does snap, the dowel will keep everything together for a bit.

Get the right sized dowel (or bamboo) and araldite it in place and you have a "full wood sandwich composite" post.

I've snapped a lightweight Ti post. It snapped just riding along with no warning, result was a couple of weeks off riding with a badly twisted knee. If your post is already bent, it could easily do the same...

Will bear that in mind Big John! 😯

Its a 350 post so there is plenty inside, might just go for another Ti post from another company as its not the first time I have had a problem from the companies products.

oddly, thats what dingly sailors do with the top sections of the mast to equilise the bend. Improves light wind performance a bit oo.
