So, busted three ribs, the floating type breaks and punctured a lung at PMBA Gisburn April 3rd. Just had a week in hospital to manage the pain and going back tuesday for a scan to check on the bleeding and probably get told the long term prognosis and get signed off for whatever they think.
Next on the calender is Boltby Bash May 14th. Whats the chances of me being ready for it? Thing is, I had spent some time getting myself fit enough for Gisburn but was planning to spend the next month get fit for the extra miles/elevation of Boltby. As things stand I think I am more likely to lose fitness.
Generally fractures 6 weeks to mend, then need get delf fit again, I'd plan for not making it. Ribs are buggers as not exactly able to rest them, like and arm or leg.
Also punctured lung going take a whe to settle and rehab from.
@northshoreniall was afraid that would be the case, bugger!
What a shame, Boltby has some descents you’d want a good core/ribs for so I’d say yes probably best to give it a raincheck
Turn up for the camping and craic.
But I'd be warry of racing.
You could try the practice. The 1st climb will tell you if your fit enough...
Ha Duncan, not wrong! That’s the one that winds out of the event village up that narrow road isn’t it? I remember the big one getting up to high paradise too….sortsthe nen from the boys that one!!
