up till today i had ordered a 2013 specialized tarmac (the cheapest one).when asking what date it might arrive, was told jan (not having a go at bike shop by the way).well i happened to be browsing on their delivery page for specialized bikes,i happened to notice that there were plenty of sport models in my size in stock. this is the beauty 😀 [img] [/img]

hence why i now write this.

i cannot wait to get it tbh (have wanted a road bike for over 20 years).
but obviously next week's weather looks abysmal 🙁

i know i'm a lightweight, but i just cannot face taking my new bike out in the pouring rain/winds for it's first outing (my excuse is also that i'm not very fit 😳

i know there are a lot worse problems in the world though (and i need a big dose of mtfu 😳 but how do you get yourself out on your bike when the weather is not pleasant?
the only road bike i have ever ridden/owned was my raleigh elan back in the early 90's (lovely bike, but bent the front when a van pulled out at a roundabout when i had right of way 😡

Might I suggest sir takes some of these?

There's no such thing as bad weather, only insufficient kit.

or even crud catcher/crud guard will stop you getting wet from road spray (but not those riding with you). Do you MTB in the winter or bad weather?

Looks smart, make sure you wash your hands before you ride it.

As for riding in poor weather, having some appropriate clothing helps.

The toughest bit is getting out the house when its raining, I hate doing this. I usually get togged up and then sit by the front door waiting for even the smallest break in the weather. Ive been known to spend a sunday sat by the front door.

when riding on the road in shit weather, just occasionally ask yourself how muddy the off-road might be

don't ask yourself how much fun they both are - that's an answer you may not want to hear - but for convenience, road wins hands down and going unexpectedly fast is a bit like fun

(... if you half-close your eyes and tilt your head funny)

Got my first roadie recently, a second hand one from a mate. Lovely bike, I can't really do it justice, but great fun to ride.
