No harm in trying. Generally does make a difference if you've been running for years and never serviced, and will sort out oil leaks. If it's got to that point, oil may be coming out but dirt may be getting in also.

Easy to service. Watch the video TF have got in their site somewhere.

Also, get some IPA (not the beer), to clean everything.

If you don't have the oil, it's worth getting the Refresh kit that has the oil for lowers and uppers, grease for the seals, and the seal kit.

The seal kit won't make it better, it'll just slow further wear to the forks but then its not necessarily new fork time either...its up to you, damage is done but they'll still work fine, just best to start doing more regularly servicing

Are those oil marks on the stanchions or actual wear? If the latter, then yes, damage has been done. Though I doubt it will really be noticeable and good new seals may prevent oil from leaking and keep the dust out. Maybe the wear can be polished up a bit. If they were expensive forks, you could consider having them Kashima'd but not worth it for anything cheap.

nah the wear is justa 1cm patch sticking out of seal, not sure about beneath the seal yet. Just oil shown in pic.

they are rockkshox reb world cup circa 2009 i think. not mega bucks as got them from a guy on STW about 6 months ago for £160.

dont want to have to replace the stanchions as they are attached to carbon crown and steerer and will cost loads to replace if even possible.

may get a refresh kit from tf for £35 and see how that goes to keep em going for another year.

just out of curiosity though, what is the new equivalent of the reba world cup carbon? would some dt swiss xrc 100 be comparible in weight and function? need to have remote lockout.

cheers
