Any issues running an 11spd crank with a 9spd drive chain (shimano 105 for both 9spd drive chain and 11spd crank).

My friend has a 105 9spd bike and needs a new crank. Ideally doesn't want to swap the rest over (new sti's are expensive!).

Anyone tried it?

Worth noting that chains from 9-12 speed all have the same internal width and pitch (distance between pins) so to a single chainring, they all look the same anyway.

Probably - 10sp double drivetrain on 11sp cranks here works perfectly.
