Hi all,
So, I'm sizing up options for front suspension.
I was going to go with SIDs, but put off by reliability issues and high maintenance complaints, also I've seen FOX 32's but not sure I they're worth the 700 euros. I'm not into racing so not even sure it's worth dropping the money to save weight - my bike weighs a ton anyway.
So actually looking at Rebas which are going for 350. I've got a pair on my 27.5+ and I've never serviced them and they've done several hundreds of miles issue free. Here's the thing: my front wheel is 100mm thru-axel, and most sus are boost, but I can get non-boost forks. As stated in another post, I can get a conversion kit without too much fuss.
But if I stick with 100mm axles on both the rigid and the new sus forks, will it be difficult in the future to get a decent non-boost front wheel?
I assume Hope will carry on making 100mm hubs.
Also running Rebas (which must be 9 years old) in 15x100. I think if I was getting a new fork though I’d probably have to go 110 and either get a new front wheel or swap the hub.
Fairly sure MRP did a conversion kit for Hope from non-boost to boost.
Buy yourself some decent hubs, you can always have a front wheel built around the hub.
Seems like the best bet 🙂
I've got a similar dilemma. Old non-boost forks and front wheel.
When I have to replace the forks then they'll be boost and I'll use a conversion kit.
The old 15x100 wheels or hub can be used on a gravel bike (or anything with 12x100) with a sleeve axle adapter, as 100mm axles are the standard there. An alternative use for it if you get a new wheel or hub, otherwise a boost kit is cheap, but potentially fiddly.

They did but hope also do a right end cap one which is better (sight redish required).

^^This^^
But also it's easy enough to use an existing 100x15mm hub on Boost forks with a £5 spacer kit, I do keep intending to rebuild/replace my MTB's Non-boost front wheel, but as I seldom remove it there's not really much point right now TBH, functionally it's fine.
Every road and gravel bike has a 100mm hub so no worries about them disappearing soon
It's weird, looking at Rebas, the boost version is like 80 quid more expensive. The decals look a bit nicer, but not sure if the non-boost is an older model?
Was thinking similar when mulling over a beefier fork on sale for the FS bike. I decided I'd go Boost + hub converter to future proof if I bought it. Then chickened out on that as well as the new droppers planned for the kids. So they got the droppers.
