My knees are dead-tired but I had a great time. Especially enjoyed the final rooty descent. Would be murder in the wet I'll bet.
On the way home my car got a flat tyre - a top bloke called Arthur lent me his substantially better tools to change the wheel. Turned out he was an ex-USAF pilot who had flown Hercules a few miles down the road from where I grew up. Decided not to go home!
Only downer was not getting a free Hi-Five pack - how long in advance do you have to book?
Good to see fig rolls still on the menu.
I think it is 8 weeks in advance, I bought the season ticket, so all of them are well in advance. Only slight issue was a computer glitch meant they lost my entry, but it was sorted really quickly, I think a fair few season ticket holders had the same problem.
Loved that final descent as well, but the penultimate climb, the one straight after the road was a killer! I didn't see anyone ride it.
I did the standard and that was plenty enough for my legs!
Being local I never ride these as the 'event' but often follow the .gpx myself...
Is the epic the one 'west of amberly'.. More towards Chichester way?
I think the 'rough ride'is more to the east...

Just checked.. It is! Great ride. I did it last year and really enjoyed it.
I tell you what would be good.. To join the south downs epic and the rough ride epic.. A nice 70 miler on the South downs..
Any takers?

Not feeling too bad, great weather, a couple of killer hills but that last descent was awesome. Only niggle was when I came out the woods the direction sign had gone a bit amiss so did a bit extra before backtracking and getting back on course. Second one I have done, great routes and great organisation
