I must have Hobbit feet, seems most cycling shoes are too narrow, anyone know of any good wide ones?

Shimano tend to run large and Bont too. Sidi do the mega fit which is a wide.

I'd also suggest trying shoes with arch supports - my road shoes are giro which feel very narrow with the low arch supports but fit beautifully with the high arch support (giro come with 3 different height inserts).

FWIW, as wide footer, I have always found shimanos narrow.

Yep, I've got wide feet and also like a wide toe box. The Giro are high volume rather than wide and I've never found Shimano or sidi wide actually that wide.

Looking at the number, Lake seem to be as wide as they go.

Lake or Bont for proper wide feet.
I find Spec wider than Shimano, but there not much on it, neither are really wide.
Girl and Fizik are to be avoided.

Surprisingly, giro ventanas... I just bought a pair and usually find giro too narrow. These fit perfectly and are wider than my Shimano xc5

I find Specialized to have a more square end which suits my duck shaped feet.

It's worth noting that some manufacturers* offer a standard and a wide fit shoe, so don't write some off as unsuitable unless you know that the wide is too narrow.

* Shimano, Sidi, Giro plus others.

I miss the days of being fitted for Clarks school shoes where they measured your feet length & width in store before suggesting a model that would fit. I'm not sure which manufactures / shops offer that for cycling shoes.

I’ve just been through all of this and have had 3 sizes of each brand come through my front door. For me, and of the ones I tried, specialized were the narrowest, followed by lake mx176, then Shimano standard width then northwave, lake mx238 were great but the heel would lift, the winner was Shimano wide fit xc701 bought from bike24 in Germany as we can’t get wide fit in the uk. Quite a few people told me not to even bother trying giro and fizik. It’s interesting digging around on the lake website because they have a matrix that goes into serious detail. It shows that although the 176 and 238 are both wide, the 238 has more volume. Shimano also have a comprehensive table showing their different lasts. It helps to know where you foot is wide, mine is very wide around the ball of my foot But my feet are small. Good luck and I hope this helps. One last thing, for the first time in however many years, I was able to buy the right length shoe to get the right width and it feels so much better not having all the extra space in front of my toes.

I posted a similar question not too long ago.

I have really wide feet and a high instep, so need all the volume I can get.

Tried the Shim wide (from Bike24 actually) and they just weren’t right.

Went with Sidi Dragon Megas in the end.

They are excellent. Instep strap adjusts too, so really comfortable for me all round.

I was sceptical becaue I’d tried a normal Sidi years ago and it didn’t get past my toes, but the Megas are top notch width-wise.

Got them from Sigma Sports (UK) in the end.

Sidi Dragons (Mega)

IMV, Sidi Dominator Mega are the best shoes for wide feet. They are expensive, but, I've got a pair that are 10+ years old and still look good when cleaned up. I've had to replace the closure straps once.
I bought some Lake MX ?? a couple of years ago, they were advertised as a very wide fit. They are not as wide as the Sidi Megas.

Lake has four different last shapes with separate wide versions, and an extra wide on some, so you need to dig about the website for a while. I can't wear Sidi Megas, as they are much too narrow around the ball of my feet. Contrary to alanl above the Lake's I have (MX237 Wide and MX168 Enduro Wide) are much much wider where they need to be for me.

Feet shapes are so different that claudie's approach might be the most (only?) sensible one. I'm happy with my Lake's and will only be buying other brands if I need something they don't do, which basically is flat pedal shoes.

I also have some wide fit Shimano xc701s. These are just wide enough and I think the boa helps. However they're the first Shimano shoes I've tried that are wide enough, except my XM9s which are also on the money.

As per Claudie I buy loads of shoes and send them back til I get a pair that truly fits.

One other thing I find is that sizing up to achieve width even by half a size doesn't tend to work. Too long can be the enemy of wide feet because the instep starts to sit a little too far forward and the ball of the foot is no longer quite at the widest point. And with the extra rigidity of cycling shoes this issue is more pronounced.

You didn't say what style of shoe you're after. My 510 Hellcat Pros are also a perfect fit for me. Although worth noting they've changed the sizing recently and mine are from before that happened. I'm struggling to find perfection with new 510s to replace these old ones but I haven't got hold of Hellcats in the right size yet. The Kestrels fit ok in both boa and lace up but I'm not sure they're quite what I'm after. NB 510 do half sizes.

I'm wide with a high arch.

I have shimano wide fit for SPD and SPD-SL and have wide feet - they fit well and have lasted for years. The MW7 for MTB is a great shoe

i usually get shimano wides. I have just bought a set of DHB road shoes and they are not bad so the MTB ones are probably worth a go.
