Have done a forum search but no joy.

Have previously run the cheap magicshine front light but wanting something that's a single integrated unit rather than taping a battery pack to the frame and also something that's a wider more car like 'commuter' beam than the focused MS.
Not wanting to go the dynamo route although the lights units are more like what I'm after.

Any ideas?

I'm happy with the beam on my Light & Motion Urban 800.

BuMM ixon iq premium (same light head as a dynamo Cyo Premium) or Exposure Strada

PS If you do buy the Ixon or similar, German sites (Rose, Bike24) are usually cheaper, and the service is excellent. They also don't charge a ridiculous premium for shipping to the Highlands - their charges from Germany are often cheaper for me than firms in England.

B&M Ixxon Core here, just arrived from Rosebikes. Looks spot on. Several variants/prices.

There are beam shot comparisons on the road.cc review which are useful.
