still looking for a new to me bike, I was going to go down the hardtail route as thats what i've alsways riddne, and i tend to ride a mix of quiet roads, bridleways trailcentres, fire roads and some wiridng in the lakes. Have been offered a good deal on a 2016 t130s just wondering how the bearingets last up to winter riding as most of mtbing is in winter for training. read all the reviews on how good they are so probably donlt need further convincing on this, just trying to weigh up if hardtail is better for teh winter side of things?
thanks
I have a 2017 T130C RS and it has held up brilliantly since I bought it new in mid-2016. It uses the same back-end/bearings as the alloy bikes from 2016/17 and it genuinely hasn't missed a beat. Granted it's not much use over the winter for the last 12 months but it's still on the same frame bearings and they have a lifetime warranty on them anyway, which they seem to cover even if the bike is second-hand. One thing to note on that year of T130S though, I'd be checking if it comes with the older 32mm Revelation fork or a Yari. They switched mid-way through the year and the Yari is a far better fork for the bike. If it comes with the Revelation I'd budget for changing it out along the line.
Don't all Whyte's come with lifetime warranty for bearings, if you can get the receipt then might remove any worries about bearings?
As for the bearings, they're decent on Whyte's in terms of sealing, as long as you treat them right, i.e. no jetwashing or the likes, if you need to replace them, then they're not that expensive if you hunt around.
thanks
its comes with the revelations and a non boost front hub. I expect they will be better than than the rebas i'm currently using. Its between this a new orbea laufy for £1000, still unsure. I'll ask about original purchase receipt to save any hassle with warranty
It's not so much they'll be "better" than the Reba's its the fact it is basically a stretched out Reba on a bike that likes to charge. Having a stiffer, stronger fork like the Yari transforms the bike. Not a deal breaker, but one to bear in mind.
