After 2 days of hard uplift riding at forest of dean and bike park wales my rear wheel on my beloved t129 works has given up the ghost.

Just wanted to know if any other t129 owners have upgraded their wheels and what to?

The stock rims are only 19mm internal width but due to the limited rear tyre clearance im looking for advice from other t129 owners as to how wide a rim i could get on with out increasing the tyre width to the point it'll rub the frame when cornering hard.

Considering superstars new wheels that are 25mm internal width or possibly hopes new enduro wheels at 23mm width.

Cheers guys

Dt swiss xm1501 from a German site, I picked up some for around £430. Very light, strong , pick up very fast and just hammer a long. Oh look pretty cool as well.

23.5mm internal 27 external wider and a whole lot lighter than the hopes. Hubs are the star ratchet system and very easy to maintain.

Slightly cheaper option spank oozy295 again lighter and wider than the others, around 270£.

Am I right in thinking the old ones were the WTB st rims? You could swap out to the Frequency i23s, which have survived my general carelessness at antur and bike park wales as well as who knows how many misjudged water bar hops in the highlands last summer.

Have run 24mm internal LB rims (30mm external) on my T-129 Works SCR, but you really are limited tyre wise. Nothing bigger than a proper 2.1" (Conti 2.2's fit, but then they're not even 2.1" anyway!).

I put some stans flows (not flow ex) on my 2014 t-129s which I think are 22.6 internal and 28 external.

No rubbing with an ardent 2.25 on the rear. Probably wouldn't get anything bigger in there but it's big enough for me anyway.

Made a massive difference to the ride over the skinny standard rims.

I built mine up from a frame and searched the web a fair bit on the rear tyre clearance issue. Only a couple of months in, but I plumbed for Hope tech enduro wheels running 2.2 minions front and back. There isn't bags of room, but no rubbing and very pleased so far!

FWIW, the minions are suprisingly beefy for 2.2...

I'm running DHF front and DHR rear, however the DHF looks like it would be equally as good for both. I'm really happy with them, however they were an absolute bitch to get on the hope rim!

Cheers. Currently running a hanzz dampf front which is massive. Gives the 120mm front a bit of extra squish which I like but wearing out fairly quickly.

Im running a ninion 2.35 front and specilized ground control 2.1 rear. Was looking at the hope techs today. Look perfect but the new superstar whheels reviewed in latest mbuk look a bargain but 25mm internal might be too wide for the rear clearance
