Please help me decide which Shape It link I need. I have a late 2018 S150 CRS that I have been running on 27.5" wheels with 2.8" Nobby Nics for the past few years. This combo is fine in dry/damp conditions but sketchy in anything else.
So this year I going to mullet it, running 2.4" Maxxis DHR2 front and back. I only use my S150 for trail centre style riding, I'm 6' 1" tall and 200lb with my riding kit on if thats helps.
So the $64k question, which link is best for my mullet set up --- the shape it link with the choice of 4 mm increase/decrease of BB height and an increase or decrease in the head angle of 0.4 degrees or the shape it up link with a choice of increasing the BB height by 4 or 12.5mm and the head angle by either 0.4 degrees in 4mm option or 1.5 degrees in 12.5mm option.
Thanks in advance Paul B
ps I have submitted the same question to Whyte via their contact page but the guy I spoke to at Whyte said they had a large Christmas backlog of emails to go through and was therefore uncertain of when I could expect an answer from them.
Shape it up. On my Whyte e150 I went to a 160mm fork. Was great downhill, but slackened the seat tube too much for my liking and slow speed steering was really floppy. Shape it up set at 12.5 restored things nicely while keeping a longer, softer fork. Also solved the pedal strike problems I’d been having even with 155mm cranks. +/- 4mm is a worthless adjustment and with a mullet set up you are never going to want a lower bb anyway.
Thanks Clubby. My gut feel was always the Shape it up link however occasionally my gut feel has been wrong and there are far wiser riders on the forum than me so I will always seek feedback. If anyone else has a view on this please chip in. All contributions are welcome.
