Hello,
Can someone tell me how Whyte is measuring their seat tube length? I am looking for new trail bike and t-129 is on top of my list. My concern is that it may be to low for my height (195cm, inseam 96cm). I currently own 23" Trek Superfly (ST 56cm). This summer I did some test ride on 2016 Remedy size 21,5" (ST 51cm) and stock seatpost was on the limit so the question is how 48cm can fit guy like me...
Sizing given on Whyte's website
J mm = 431.8 (M) | 457.2 (L) | 482.6 (XL)
E mm = 805.0 (M) | 810.0 (L) | 815.0 (XL)
XL size has a 170mm Reverb
I know the numbers, I am just wondering if 482.6mm is measured from BB center to top of the seat tube or to fancy seatpost clamp. First scenario means seatpost extended to ~320mm in my case, which sounds scary to me 😉
It shows you on the diagram?
Assuming the image is correct, the measurement is from BB centre to top of clamp, so a bit of tube extending beyond?
Having said that, what looks like an extended tube could just be the markers for the "H" dimension? Would need to see a current T129 in the flesh to see how the clamp is arranged I guess...
Quick back of a fag packet calculation:
175mm crank + 482mm seattube + 170mm Reverb = 827mm
960 inside leg - 827 = 133mm.
Lose some for the seat, say 33mm.
Leaves ~100mm of Reverb lower out of the frame. Doesn't sound too scary.
I've got one and just measured - it's BB centre to the top of the tube. There is no seatclamp, it's got an internal clampy thing instead.
FWIW, I'm 185cm with 85cm inseam. 170mm reverb isn't far off max insertion.
Fag packet calc. sounds about right then.
Reverb 170 has a 250mm lower approx with 91mm minimum insertion, so should be plenty of adjustment.
Thank you guys,
I can rest assured now 🙂
Anyway, I will try to do some test ride before purchase.
