Hi,

I’m thinking of getting a Whyte e-bike (possibly Elyte or Kado), but just wondering what their reliability and build quality is like, as it might end up as a long term keeper. Does anyone have any experience of them (particularly if you’re a bike mechanic).

TIA

We had an E160, the controller, on the bars, the colours went funny, replaced under warranty no questions asked.

We moved to the Elyte Evo, more power and lighter, as the bike is more my other half.

The Bosch app is good its been positive for us

Lifetime free bearings

We've got a few Whyte's in our riding group, one has done 5000 odd miles on the original motor, had a bearing rebuild recently.

Frame bearings seem to last fine and they don't trash shocks. Easy to work on as well.

You can't go wrong with the bosch motor, in our riding group (which is circa 20 odd people), the Bosch bikes are far more reliable than the Brose, which is more reliable than the shimano (which are terrible).

A friend has an e-160 (I think) and it’s been pretty reliable for the last few years.  There was some monitor or sensor fault that got sorted quickly under warranty. He’s not the best mechanic (a hammer or rock are probably his level of tool) and his has been running well,
