Evening folks - got a Whyte Drop It Dropper Post in need of a service, so looking to source parts (inc. cartridge) and some sort of service procedure.
It looks - post, mechanism, lever - almost identical to the Brand-X Ascend... is the Whyte Drop It indeed a re-branded, Brand-X Ascend post? Can anyone confirm this, or otherwise? As such, and if it is, can Brand-X parts/cartridges be used?
Anyone own/serviced a Whyte Dropper and be kind enough to share any experiences? Any advice on sourcing parts and/or a useful procedure guide or video (the GMBN video servicing the Crank Bros dropper looks useful?)
Thanks, in advance.
Looks very much like a Brand-x post, they are pretty easy to strip & rebuild

Yeah, 99% sure it’s the Brand X as above.
They're all re badged Trans X I believe
Thanks for your thoughts, folks.
It certainly looks very similar, if not identical, to the Brand-X in the CRC link.
However, I have since found a Whyte cartridge replacement guide that advises using 'JD's' YSP lube... JD being product numbers from the Tranz X range, as mentioned above. [I wonder if both Brand-X and Whyte could be made by Tranz X?]
Anyone else serviced a Whyte dropper? Where did you get parts for service from?
Cheers.
I have a trans-x post & a brand-x post
They are absolutely identical, trans-x make them all
Thanks, kimbers. Where do you get your service kits/cartridges from? Are they as simple to service as the guide suggests? Any tips? Cheers.
@phil258 does your Whyte post have an air valve under the saddle? I have a leaky one like that that I need to service but can't seem to source a cartridge with the air valve.
@kimbers so you know if a sealed BrandX cartridge without valve will fit into a Whyte post which had the valve originally?
@bearGrease - no, my Whyte dropper doesn't have an air valve under the saddle. It's a sealed cartridge system.
@kimbers - how do you identify which cartridge to order/use for your Trans-X/Brand-X, there appears to be a number of options even for the same amount of travel...
