After having my Rock Lobster hardtail stolen at the weekend, I'm looking for options for a new bike.
The replacement cost of the Rock Lobster is around £1800 with the bits it had on. I'm not sure that the Insurers will pay out that much, so I've got to get a couple of back up options.
Firstly, it must have SRAM gearing - X7 or better. 9 speed is fine.Disc brakes too, and a steel hardtail frame would be nice, though not set in stone.
An hour last night searching brought up the Whyte 809,

which is a pretty similar spec for £1200ish, albeit with an ally frame.
Any thoughts on this bike?
Also, any other bikes that meet my demands?
Thanks
Alan.
If you can make the stretch, the Whyte 905 is a nice bike with a very nice spec.
You wouldn't be disappointed with the 809 though.
