Hi There, Noob to bike maintenance so need some Noob advice please!

I have for my daughter a Whyte 405 with damage to the coating on it's fork stantions. LBS has advised that they can't be repaired or serviced and quoted over £250 for new.(Suntour Epixon)

Seems I can get Epixon 9 forks on eBay for under £150 - does anyone know if these are the same as the originals?

Secondly, are there other forks I should consider? Would any 26' fork with 9mm qr and the appropriate steerer tube and brake mount work, or are there differences in shape that would affect the geometry?

She's not far off outgrowing this amazing bike, so I want it to be in perfect shape for it's next lucky owner... I think realistically it'll only sell for five or six hundred quid so obviously want to keep costs to me down whilst still keeping it the perfect bike you'd expect to get at that price!

Thanks for reading!

How old is the bike?
Might be worth asking regarding warranty - you never know.

It is possible to accommodate a different steerer tube by changing the top / bottom bearings and cups of the headset accordingly. Maybe not ideal but worth considering if it opens you up to more, better, cheaper fork options particularly as you won't want to be changing wheels or hubs to fit anything other than 9mm QR. What sort of steerer tube does it currently have?

Does the coating damage impact the performance of the forks or is it cosmetic? I can't see this costing you less than £200 to fix so you're probably better doing sold as seen.
