Following my what front tyre thread I sourced myself a magic mary snakeskin tubeless easy..

I've fitted a good few tubeless tyres in my time, and my Exp with schwalbe on the Mtb has been good. So armed with my new airshot I was almost looking forward to the task..

Anyhow.. Tried it with the core out, no success.. Tried it with soapy water.. No success.. Fitted tube overnight and tried again.. It's not even coming close to seating..

One thing I did notice was how ridiculous easy the tyre was to get on the rim...fitted by hand in about 2 seconds without the usual faff of trying to position the bead in the rim channel etc etc.

The rims are tubeless compatible and nd I've just take off a nobby nic that went up first time so it's not them..so is my tyre a dud?

Ps.. No it's not a 29er tyre on a 650 rim.. I checked.

Surely you mean loose - not slack?

Could be a QC issue I guess.

only tyre i've ever stuggled to seat even with a small compressor, ussually takes about 5/10 minutes of messing with it to get it on.

So let me understand your point correctly, you’re stating on the internet for all to listen that ypu have slack rubber.

At a guess, I’d say you were unlucky in the trouser dept. Either that or Durex suddenly made extra large condoms, which I doubt, which is why... 😛

Have you tried manually seating it with a tyre lever? i.e. Using a lever to lift the bead out of the channel and onto the shoulder all the way round?

Would Mary approve of you using a tyre lever on her?

Yeah like wouldn’t it take more than one lever to get Mary to squirt stans all over you

I remounted an old Snakeskin Magic Mary this week, pretty loose indeed. I normally use a petrol station compressor or a friend's homemade bottle inflator but got it up fine this time with a track pump and valve core removed after wrapping a 26" tube around the outer circumference of the tyre and pulling the bead into place.

How do you do this? I'm not following !?

The problem is getting enough air quickly enough into the tyre to force the beads to seat in the rim. By wrapping an inner tube on the outside of the tyre you are reducing the volume of the tyre so you've a better chance of popping the beads into place. I've done similar by simply wrapping my arms around the wheel and tyre and then triggering an airshot.
