As per the title really! Without spending loads on something really over the top, why the hell can't you get a simple self-rocking Moses basket!?
Anyone got some simple, cheap, safe, effective way of doing it?
With a hand?
Just get a buggy with a flat basket in it.
Thats what we did.
Also we got a baby hammock, which actually did work as every time he kicked his legs it bounced and rocked
My tip: Don't get the baby hooked on anything that you don't want to continue indefinitely and will become a PITA, be that rocking, warmed milk, drives at 3am, etc.
You can get this sort of thing I saw it at the baby show. Wasn't cheap. But then they think sleep deprived parents will pay anything!
A friend built a machine to rock theirs out of lego
yup listen to mark90, don't make a rod for your back, let baby get used to settling himself down.
We got one. Its a seat that reclines. Goes side to side or back and forward....
Just have more cuddles. They love it. They are only tiny for a blink of an eye, make the most of it.
I heard all the 'You're making a rod for your own back' comments. Nonsense. Its your baby. Enjoy as much cuddle time as you can and get proper some proper bonding time. They will love you for it
While mark90 speaks sense I found that by week 7 of no more than 2 hours uninterrupted sleep I was willing to sell my soul for some rest...

Absolutely agree and understand. After being adamant our daughter would not have a dummy my wife caved in one night and gave her one. Luckily she didn't take to it. Once we found out what the underlying issue was she slept much better, as did we all.
