Why does my knee hurt?

Specifically the tendon at the back. First ride yesterday on a new saddle. I had cramp in the back of legs (rare for me) just above the knee joint but round the back. If I had to guess I'd say the saddle is too high causing over extension of my legs?

I didn't actually measure anything, just fired the new one on. It felt slightly to pointy uppy but not to the extent that I felt the need to change it. I figured I'd just tweak it before the next ride. It felt fine otherwise.

In the past, saddle height issues have always manifested themselves through my knees or the muscles at the front around the top of the kneecap.

I've had the bike for ~5 years and done however many thousand miles on it and never really had a problem. It's all pointing at the saddle isn't it?

I would have though through that if it was far enough away from perfect that it's caused problems, would I not have noticed when I was riding? I'm normally quite fussy about fit and angles etc

I changed a saddle last year. I think it took while to settle with wrist pain being the worst.

I couldn’t judge the widest point and where i was sat to get to distance to the bars correct.

So what you describe makes total sense to me

Well the answer is obvious, lower it before your next ride and see if it makes a difference.

Why not ? Getting it right so there is just a very slight flex in the leg when the foot is the furthest away during the downward stroke is really important, and not difficult to make the adjustments.

Saddles vary in their rails to top of saddle height - compare it to your old one.
