Totally flumuxed.
It was all smooth as a baby's bum. Replaced the forks and now when I tighten the top bolt it drags and binds and is stiff to turn.
Cannot for the life of me work it out. Tried another pair of forks and the same.
I've used the little washers on the top bit. Very odd. The only thing I can think of is that I put the bearings in the wrong way (top into bottom and vice versa) - are they location specific?
It's driving me nuts.
Bearings are the same top and bottom but do have a right way up.
Just to check you have swapped the crown race from your old forks to the new ones
is there a seal misplaced?
The bearing inner race has a slight chamfer where it interfaces with the crown race / top race. So the bearing should be installed facing outwards. Are the bearings smooth to turn by hand?
Cheers guys. Yeah they are all smooth by hand. Crown race is the right one. Maybe I have put the bottom one in wrong. All very odd. It's taxing me!
