Well that wasn't easy! I've just spent ages trying to find a set of pads for Shimano BR-785 brakes, wiggle & crc don't seem to have anything that suits, or if they do it's not easy to find.
Only managed to find a set on ebay after searching for F01A pads as BR-785 pads didn't seem to return any conclusive results.
second result in google?

Fits: XTR M985, XT M785, SLX M666, Deore M615, Alfine R785, FSA K-Force, Clarks M2, BR-M8000, BR-M9000
Doesn't say BR-785. It's just a bit wooly and complicated as you need to go through every pad to see what it fits.
Plus I wanted Shimano ones.
AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRgggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Buying pads is a nightmare
umm, aren't you missing a letter?
BR-M785 = mountain bike
BR-R785 = road
?
Yeah I think your problem comes from the missing 'm' your brakes take pretty much the defacto standard issue Shimano 2 pot pads.
Agreed you need to be searching for the right thing, i.e. include the "M". The BR part is pretty obviously going to be on all models of brake.
Possibly but the spec of the bike lists them as Shimano BR-785, I doubt adding an R would have made much difference.
edit: having just googled 'br-r785 pads' its even more confusing.
Can't find them listed on superstar for example.
Why are you looking on superstar - they don't sell shimano.
Google fail I'm afraid, it took seconds of looking
Yep, but only found after clicking on the item and checking the spec.
Plus this Compatible with the following Shimano Models:BR-M9000 - BR-M785 - BR-R785 - BR-M9020 - BR-M675 - BR-M987 - BR-M666 - BR-M985 - BR-M615 - BR-RS785 - BR-S700 - BR-M8000 - BR-M9000
My brakes are not RS785
Its just unnecessarily complicated.
Why are you looking on superstar - they don't sell shimano.
Yes they do

show me what you found afters seconds of looking.
Superstar sell Shimano but are also out of stock of the common styles, I was looking last night for pads for my M615s. Ended up ordering from Uberbike who make it nice and clear what models each pad is suitable for, unlike CRC/Wiggle.

Erm, no they don't...
you
Plus I wanted Shimano ones.

Yes they do
erm - I thought they sold superstar ones in the same size as shimano - not shimano ones?
As I'm a little unsure of what you now want, either these
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shimano-road-disc-brake-pads-alloy-backed/rp-prod151619
or these ought to do the job
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shimano-xtr-xt-slx-alfine-j-type-disc-brake-pads/rp-prod130823
/p>
however the google is
Why do they list pads for shimano disc brakes as an option then, and with a price, and with an option to 'add to basket'. Do they just not send them?
I looked on superstar to see if that had a pad type listed for shimano
But you're missing the point entirely, even if they didn't sell pads for shimano brakes, but they do, then how would a buyer know that.
Lots of should fit, ought to do on your list there.

They sell Superstar pads that fit Shimano brakes.
You quite specifically stated you wanted Shimano pads, not Superstar pads to fit Shimano brakes.
I think the politest possible way of saying why it was a struggle is, well, user error.
Cheers Iain
As I've alreday said Hob Nob 'I looked on superstar to see if that had a pad type listed for shimano'.
I've yet to see anyone link to something that says 'this pad fits BR-R785', so clearly not that simple.
I've bought some, just more hassle than it needs to be.
Funnily enough none of the links tinybits supplied specifically says 'fits BR-R785', first links lists two other brake models, 2nd lists BR-RS785 (for all I know the S could denote a completely different pad), the eBay link just lists various brake pads that fit various brakes.
So yeh you're right it does take seconds to google, just doesn't throw up the right results.
It was probably difficult as you don't actually seem to know what you want.
Okay, thanks, but I do as I've ordered them.
Next week's thread.
"Why don't my pads fit?"
😉
No because I found the spec sheet for Shimano BR-R785 brakes which lists 4 pad types G03S, G01A, F03C and F01A. As I've ordered F01A type then I can't see any reason why they wouldn't fit.
If I'd ordered the pads in any of the links above I would have been much less confident 🙂
Here's the easy way:
Walk into your Local Bike Shop.
Tell them you want some pads for your brakes. Tell them what sort of brakes you run.
Give them some money.
Leave the shop with your new brake pads.
Gosh never thought of that, thanks, that's a top tip.
