Evening folks,

In a quick moment of paranoia ahead of a trip to BPW in a couple of weeks, I thought I'd pop online and order up a spare mech hanger, but I can't for the life of me find one???

The bike in question is a 2015 Stumpjumper Evo Comp 650b. According to the manual, the hanger in question is a 9892-4020, but when I search for this, it just doesn't seem to exist, and all the results point me towards the 9895-4020 instead.

Anyone got any ideas?

Ask a Specialized dealer?

^ that. Hargroves Cycles usually have an impressive list of Specialised spares listed on their web site. No idea what their speed of dispatch is like as I use the shop.

Try Wheels Manufacturing?

Much better quality CNC machined billet, rather than the usual softer cast OE hanger

I was going to say gearmechhanger as well - when my bike wasn't listed on their site I sent a pic of the old one and they quickly pointed me in the right direction for what I needed. In fact I had to get another replacement for the same bike yesterday, and it was dispatched about 20 mins after ordering. Good shop.

I would rather the hanger broke than the mech.

A hanger can snap at any time, you should buy a spare (two really) at the time of purchasing a bike.

I got two for my recently purchased Camber from Hargreaves, but found it was easier to take the old one off and look at the pictures on their website to make sure it was the right one.

Cheers guys. It seems odd that it's such a complete mystery!

I'll probably pop into Evans at lunchtime and ask them. Unsurprisingly, they weren't answering the phone at 10:30 last night though! 🙂

Tried Evans at lunchtime. They were also completely stumped as to which hanger is needed!!

They did, however, provide a certain amount of entertainment, by way of their delivery truck driver managing to somehow lose his keys whilst there to make a delivery, leaving his truck locked on a Waterloo street, and half the shop staff ripping the place apart to see if they could find it! I'll be interested to see if the truck is still there on my way home. 🙂

We have got Enduros, Stumpjumpers and a Camber all with 142 bolt through axels. All the mech hangers are the same like this

If you were local to us I could lend you one.

Success at last. It seems Spesh had helpfully changed the part number to something completely different!

@MSP

don't worry, the wheels manufacturing hangers will still break when required, but are actually straight out of the packet (unlike many OE hangers) and don't bend with normal use (i.e. heavy gear shifts)

Id be surprised if that 142+ hanger was not sat on the shelf in most Spesh dealers

As said all you needed to do was remove the old one and check the pics.
