Things seem to get lairy whenever the words 'Orange' and '5' are uttered in the same sentence.

I just think people do it on purpose just because they are bord and looking for an argument, half the people do not believe what they write, and do it just for a laugh, i love a good healthy strong debate complete with banter, and will always get involved in an argument, if you did'nt STW would be sooooo boring.

Some things that might be ok to say when you're out with your mates on a ride come across differently on here and, frankly, make you look like a bit of a nob

Yes. You can't speak to strangers like you do to your mates. It comes across as aggression, not rough humour. The cause of much STW angst.

Seems alright to me.

The moderation treads a reasonable line between allowing people to say what they like, but not being totally offensive.

I allow a very high freedom to people on Interwebs to behave like the nob they would like to be in real life, but are prevented from being by excessive social mores and PC.

I bet even TandemJeremy would be good company over a few pints.

There's a saying in windsurfing "Once you actually know him - amazingly - GRF is a good bloke and he is welcome to shag my mum anytime".

I am aged 63 1/4.

I think to sum it up reading the above, most of you are ****s. Chipps et al. are probably slightly horrified at the monster they have created on his forum, but it pays their bills and they probably don't care. I hope the nicheness, snobiness and downright mutual disrespect I often read on here does not broadly reflect the sport of mountain biking that I fell in love with 23 years ago, but I fear deep down that it does. It has in essence become a sport that attracts ****s.

Carry on in your own wierd little world all of you and goodbye.

Rorschach - you're not wrong

Even the be alright sometimes - and vice versa

But this is not real life - as the poster above observed - before throwing his toys out - pretty much every MTB rider I meet seems like a decent lad or lass - it's at odds with the amount of nob ends on here - I assume that riders act like a non on here simply because it's fun, not because they are really like that.

But... Stw is pretty civilised IMO go to the clinic in cyclingnews and say you think LA is innocent for example

Tbh I've found its become a lot more angry on here recently; people seem very quick to have a go or be Mr big. Most the time they come across as quite angry dull people to me. The knock on effect though is that it doesn't fill me with enthusiasm to organise any pootles as I can't be bothered putting on the niceties to someone who's been a nob online.

I've just been riding with my mates who I know can't help it ;o)

Well I tried to run a Monday Anger Management Therapy Session a while ago on here, but people were just too angry for that so it din't work. 🙁

Ah well.

Most folk seem ok in 'real life', cos it's too easy to spout stuff on tinternet, but they daren't say it in real life. I don't see the point of that really. I'm far worser in real life than I am in here (I am lovely and happy and peacful on here though). 🙂

I is good mr pook of pookshire, well it's a mixed bag really... mixture of injuries, cancer, good friends, mrsconsequence being awesome, catching up with people, missing my bike... lots of stuff. over-all though i'd say life is alrighty, can't dwell on the bad stuff otherwise i wouldn't be able to do my job.

do you like the glitch between our phones on words with friends...? multiple games at once 😀

I'd like to think I'm a nice guy and I'd hope the handful of people on here who have met me would agree. I've found this forum at times extremely useful, sometimes funny, sometimes sad and sometimes frustrating. Just like real life encounters really.

My friends (and my wife) will tell you that I like a good argument, or more to the point I'm too stubborn to let someone off the hook if they can't at least acknowledge my point(or someone else's for that matter). Forums indulges that, since it allows time out to gather thoughts and come back with more drivel. To be honest it's quite cathartic to witness much more stubborn people on here. I'd much rather be doing all this in the pub since as many have said, people are much less likely to take offence or take it personally.

Sadly I've realised if I can take it too seriously then others can too, so I've made a concerted effort not to get drawn in again but rather just laugh from the sidelines. If I see any of you in the pub or on your bikes I'll quite happily tell you you're wrong and I'm right, but it will all be in good faith 😀

In the meantime, what tyres for someone fed up of sitting at a desk all week?

You'd certainly have the RSPCA knocking on your door for that kind of behaviour

There's an awful lot of back slapping going on about how bad it is in here. It isn't at all I think. Not compared to newsgroups and in particular the rugby ones I used to frequent. My problem is that some people, who through the nice tolerant and PC society that we have today, have never been bullied and told that they are in actual fact bell ends and in dire need of a dressing down until they get clue, get far too much airspace as this does indeed seem to be their life. A killfile would be ideal as wading around their input to get to the interesting stuff is tiresome.

It exists and is depressingly useful sometimes.

I don't think it's that bad at all, and if you do you're probably taking it all to seriously. Yes some of the arguments, like the ones between TJ and Al get a bit boring but that really isn't my problem - I just don't read them. Apart from last week when I found myself shouting 'TJ, you are just so wrong' at my computer. But I'm better now.
