Thinking about getting a dropper post but my frame hasn't got the hole for a stealth dropper and I don't like the idea of drilling one (will void warranty) nor having more cable clutter.
So I'm thinking about a Magura Vyron but don't get why there aren't more options? It's not that much more expensive than the new reverb's and surely the benefit of less cable clutter and the ability to move between bikes quickly makes it very appealing. It does to me. But maybe they are a bit shit?
Views?
Aren't 2 options enough?
I haven’t heard much about them - some anecdotal online feedback is they can respond quite slowly but hats all I’ve seen.
It would be good to lose the cable I guess - there is a wireless reverb due out shortly I think - but I suspect it’s going to be mega expensive and reverbs aren’t the most reliable post as it is.
I have one. You soon get used to the delay, it's no biggy.
I've had a couple of minor issues, but quickly sorted by Magura, even when out of warranty, no quibble, no question, just sorted.
Can't fault it.
The AXS reverb is already out, has been for a couple of months. It’s brilliant. No lag all, fast but not crazy fast return speed. Currently mega money (RRP £700, most places have it for less), so that’s for the buyer to decide if it’s worth it. But it’s very good, and would be easy to swap between multiple bikes (as would the Magura I guess)
Would probably have got one for my Orange if I'd known how tortuous the internal routing was for the dropper.
The only electrical component I'd be interested in having on my bike really.
Aren’t 2 options enough?
Serious question or just being contrary?
More options would mean more competition on price and more likelihood of getting a long drop one with a nice low stack height.
I have a Vyron too. Yes, there is a slight delay, and yes, you get used to it. Had it for 18 months with zero problems. I use it on three bikes, one with a shim (30.9mm post in 31.6mm tube).
Despite being a monumental late adopter* even I can see the sense in wireless droppers.
* still using underseat lever
I've got a Vyron dropper and think it's absolutely brilliant. Yes I did have an issue with it but Magura UK fixed it quickly and got it back to me pronto. I believe the V2 one has even less of a delay than the original.
Wireless droppers are a no brainer don't know why they are not the norm.
The only benefit of the Magura one is its wireless. From a functionality perspective, its total turd.
The Reverb AXS is amazing. It's also amazingly expensive.
How is it total turd? A dropper doesn’t have to do too much to fulfil its function does it?! Drop and come back up to same height...or am I missing some other epic features it should have?
If the veron had a 170mm drop or more I'd have one for sure. Currently have 170mm reverb and waiting for a 210mm one up to arrive.
Wireless makes great sense, just need more drop
I had one of the first versions of the Vyron and it's still one of the best droppers I've had. Solid use for 12 months and not a jot of play in it, charged the battery every so often (out of habit rather than necessity).
There was a bit of lag (maybe 0.5 sec), but was used to it after a ride. I'm going to get one for my Spark eventually so I can swap the carbon post out when not needed.

...When you ask it to.
Howard uses a magura one, fine if you plan your drop in advance. Rob has an axs reverb, its so quick it's like Clint flying firefox
Basically that. You have to plan everything in advance and be prepared for it not to actually work if you manage to press the tiny button when going balls out, on the redline, mid stage into a steep section.
If I was bumbling around, then maybe it would be ok , but for racing or riding hard & fast, it was literally useless.
The Reverb I've been using has been amazing. Press the button, instant drop, just like a normal dropper. Not sure I could justify paying for one though.
I’ve got a V2 and it’s great even with the improved time delay. I use it on a older frame without stealth routing and the rub I was getting with an external routed dropper annoyed me to no extent.
However, might have to agree with Hob there. I don’t think their remote is the best solution I find it awkward to engage when I’m in ‘flat out mode’ so there is some sort of pre planning if you must call it that required.
Magura UK is brilliant as well.
