as the title really. Got a couple of marks around the BB area and lower down tube, seems that the SC protector that’s fitted to the frame only covers so 90% of the DT width

so, any other options out there other than this and the old cut up tyre?

Would also like to know how good a fit they are, specifically on a Carbon Nomad 3

cheers

Carlos

Yep, I have one, though tend to only use it when riding rocky areas. They pretty much work as expected. Was advised to remove and clean under it to prevent dirt build up and surface marks due to rub.

Can't comment on the nomad version but have one on my stumpy and it fits like a glove, would recommend one if you like rocky environments

Got the Bronson one - fits very well, basically as well as could be expected by wraparound carbon. Not 100% seamless as it’s rigid on goes on top of the SC plastic already there but I like it and would recommend. Light, looks good and could save save you from a frame ending rock strike in certain situations so def worth while on an expensive frame, even more so if you have purchased SH and don’t have the guarantee.

I have this on my downtube - not quite as robust a thing as the Rockguardz, but an alternative-

Tweaked a G16 one to fit the GPI, had to cut off the BB bit to clear the gearbox which I have taped separately.

Fitted tape on the down tube to prevent rubbing from dirt, seems to be working well so far.

Got one for the HB. Even has a bit shaped into it for the oem guard so you don't have to take it off first.

One on my anthem 29er for a few years now. Good fit saved the frame a lot

Get it bought, you won't regret it. Have them on mine and my mates Intense, fits very well.

Must have tweaked it then as the one I got was a terrible fit. Left a gaping gap on the downtube that just collected mud.

I made one up from shed gutter downpipe for my Liteville which has a very easily dented round down tube. Stuck it on with double sided pads. Frame's raw so no issue with rubbing although the guard doesn't move anyway .

Just got one for my T129. It's a little more gappy than I'd like. But it looks like it's up to the job. I might trim it to for around the lower cable guide to make it easier to remove. I helitaped the downtube too, just to stop any rubbing of the paint.

got one on solo mk2, it fits well, i'm on my second, i dropped rolled into a local bombhole and a rock lip caught the BB,

the rockguardz shattered, but my frame ok..

it was a right loud bang ;0)

ard rock at the weekend I'm gonna cut up an oldtyre for the downtube, to avoid rockstrikes from slate pinging up

Have one on the enduro, after clouting the down tube on a rock in italy (oem guard doesn't wrap around the downtube). Has a fair few scrapes and chips on it, so its doing its job. Its a bit gappy, need to get round to putting some foam tape on it to seal it better.

They're great, 30 odd quid to protect a 3 grand carbon frame is a no brainer. A cut up tyre will not stop a pointy rock.

I had one on my Transition Scout. Fit was awful, just acted as a scoop to collect dirt. It rubbed the downtube with the collected grit and went through the paint. I ended up putting home helitape under it but it almost went through that too. It ended up in the bin.

I now use the 3m mastic tape to protect around the BB area.

I used to have a carbon frame and bought one, it never took a big strike there but didnt really have a lot of confindence in the product as it looked like a lot of resin with some carbon within to look 'carbon'. it was translucent in places and I imagine would have been quite easily damaged, but no evidence to support this.

My latest alloy frame doesnt have a guard available, so like a previous poster, I made my own, but out of thermoplastic.
