BBC weather seem to have it as fairly dry (and they are always right!)

"Outlook for Friday to Sunday
Sunshine and showers continuing throughout the period, but tending to become drier by Sunday as winds become northeasterly and strengthen. Temperatures remaining mainly near or a little below normal"

Sunday should be okay, but it's going to be wet between now and then:

Camden Lane should be interesting...

It's perfect for a CX bike.

It's also perfect for a mid-90's Marin based, purple-rigid-forked, fat(ish) tyred, flat barred and bar ended, v-braked, 1*9er frankenbike. Which is lucky

I'll be pootling the 50k with the little lady.

Oh and the first climb is, er, 'sustained'

Is that what you call me now....

I'm just going to treat as a nice pootle in the country, it being my first HONC and not knowing the area that well, anything to look out for on the course?

Sounds like a lot of road sections, so guessing skinny lightweight tyres are the order of the day?

That's exactly how it should be treated. Nice event, good atmosphere, pretty scenery, cake. What's not to like.

Pretty much (however I've not seen the 100k route). Whatever, 2.4" High Rollers are not the tyre of choice...

Yup, I've always seen HONC as a nice pootle around the countryside with mates and cake, and it's also fun for bike-watching. Kind of marks the end of the crappy weather (in theory) and the start of the summer events for me.

Rest assured that there is little fear of breathing problems due to dust this year. Some of the sections were a little greasy last night and more rain is forecast before Sunday. But the short 'offroad' sections should be OK. ;0)

I'm probably not going to bother with the bikefest either this year.
