I didn't get enough attention last year, so this year I'm riding a singlespeed 29er.
If you see a big fat beardy bloke on a green Kona wearing Vegan Cyclists kit, say hello.

Cheesy.

I hope you're treating her as roughly as she deserves.

Another Pegasus here, weird bars, Lefty, singlespeed, in a "look at me" kind of way. I'll be the one spinning like a freak on the roads due to my 32:19 gearing.

I'm riding the CHONC, cheeky hell of the north Cotswolds on my Indy Fab Ego Chariot, possible wearing tweed as the cords will be worn at the BONC party on Sat night!

You scared you might shat the cord and it'll be a bit crusty for the ride then.

Pegasuses (Pegasii?) are clearly becoming about as niche as a BMW 3-series. You bunch of chavs 😉

that's like adding a 'V8' sticker to a V4 or an extra big wing... Just makes you even more of a chav.

Watch out though, it's "bike" day at prescott, first time it's been allowed and timed, ao there'll be loads of machines on the roads in the area

ME!

I'll be on a Specialized full bouncer with full face helment and all-the-pads, baggies and a backpack the size of a small planet. Maybe.

Actually, if it's warm I might antagonise the community by not wearing a helmet and by stretching unseemly lycra over my hairy arse and legs.

2 x blokes on disc'y cxers - hoping to get near 5 hours this year - how much cake can you eat in 30 seconds anyway?

....hmmm, it's not everyday someone winks at me whilst suggesting I take my shorts off. Maybe halfway round behind a suitable bush then clubber?

I'll also be stopping every 500 yards to fix my mech, or put something in my backpack, or to lower my saddle, or raise my saddle, or exclaim at the top of my voice how radical I've just been, or to put my bike in the right gear or..or...or etc. Just so that those who cycle on the trails at Cannock on a Sunday will feel at home. 🙂

Our tandems got a 150mm fork on it.

Might drop the spacers out though and run it at 170mm as i hear it's going to be gnarlcore to the power of sik.

After a frantic effort to get new pedals today after one fell apart last night, I'm on. Looks like a bluebird day like 2007 when there were comedy tan lines a-plenty by the end of the day. That climb up from Laverton at 80km is going to be fun in the early afternoon sun 🙁

Are they really running the course anti clockwise? How bizarre, all the good descents are climbs and no descent descents! Glad I'm doing the CHONC.

Should be a really good day on Sunday, until the 80k mark anyway.

The Soul would be my bike of choice, but I dinked the front wheel enough to crack the rim earlier this week and not had chance to get another and rebuild it.

You can all point and laugh at me being completely over biked on a blue 5. 😆

I will be riding my santa cruz v10 carbon as its the only xc bike I have.
not using my dh bike on a all dayer.
As its my 1st time how many of the downhills will be equivilant of a trail centre black run as i will probably have to walk a few of these without the full facer and pads for protection ?
thanks Don

Won't be able to use flats as they're too bumpy. There may be a rat if or a rat Mav available as gears are needed!

holy thread resurrection! Oh well, I'll be there on the singlespeed niche machine again this year, though I suspect it won't be quite as dry as last year! Doing Rob Lee's 1000 miles in April challenge so adding a few (50) by riding there & back from home too, which is going to be a bit tedious on a spinny SS.

Honc is ace, if only for the friendly atmosphere and the plethora of nice (often unusual) bikes on display.

First time for me as well. As it starts from the castle grounds from what i gather, i can only assume it goes right and straight up the hill? As that looks like a nightmare of a climb (2 x black arrows?!) to start from cold! 😯

Looks like a 200m climb straight away. Better bring some spare links. I have a habit of breaking chains in such situations.

I'm driving up from London with the family, Mrs McBoo is going to take the kids to the castle while I ride around on my no-mates lonesome.

Thought I was going to be doing it on my 100mm carbon racey full suss thingey but sounds like some of you do it on crossers? Would love to do it on CX if trails allow. Pray tell fellas.

I am sure i remember someone doing it on a dursley-pederson....

Cross bike should be fine, mostly farm tracks/edge fields/tarmac where a cross bike makes up more time than it'll loose on other sections.

It's perfect for a CX bike.

It's also perfect for a mid-90's Marin based, purple-rigid-forked, fat(ish) tyred, flat barred and bar ended, v-braked, 1*9er frankenbike. Which is lucky 🙂

I'll be pootling the 50k with the little lady.

Oh and the first climb is, er, 'sustained' 🙂

One feed station, halfway round. Loads of cake and bananas (and water, maybe sports drinks, can't remember) available.
