Seems a common occurrence due to hands just not being accustomed to massive descents!
A little tip if you suffer form this (as i did a good few years back) is to take a small bottle of talc and keep your hands and gloves well covered in talc before setting off on a run. Also keep your gloves off between runs on the lifts so they dry out and you shouldn't have a problem!
Just a little tip to save peoples holidays in the future.
Alternatives are a good weeks work on the wrong end of a shovel the week before going!
Or take a good first aid kit and strap your hands up a bit 🙂
Tape on hands before blisters... ESI grips.
Didn't blister but still have a little callous at the bottom of each middle finger. It's very sexy!
Mine did, . . i put it down to holding on for dear life, a non to push fork and wooden brakes . .
the chunky Oury grips didn't help though . . .
I swapped grips after day two . . and it gradually became less of a problem all though my hands remained strapped up all week.
the talc thing does work though
Troy Lee grips
I used a hardtail with Oury grips and had no problems, didnt wear gloves though 😀
I didn't blister in the alps, but last year I wore huge holes in my palms at the endurance downhill... Turned out gloves I'd worn loads of times were fine for a few hours riding but not for 6 hours of downhill racing. Surprised me, I really thought they were properly broken in and comfy.
So this year, different gloves, more runs, no blisters.
Oh and also- compeed heel blister plasters! They're big, they don't fall off easily like elastoplasts do, and they're padded- they promote healing and just feel like extra skin. Ideal for your blistery needs.
I had problems at the base of my thumbs until I taped them up, ok then.
I dont need the Alps to make my palms blister
Also making sure your gloves fit properly helps reduce blisters. I never normally get them but bought a new pair of gloves that were slightly to big and I felt 'hotspots' so ditched them and switched back to older tighter ones with no problems. Also none of mine have extra padding, just thin clarino palms
grips with a bit of give help. I ran my usual thin grips (Spesh) in the Alps and my hands suffered as a result. After day one I had to tape them up with plasters. Next year I'll run chubbier/softer grips I think.

+1 on that, actually.
Little blob of superglue on any blisters that appear. Don't put gloves on until it's dry though 😉
I'm flying down tomorrow so will probably be tapping my hands by Friday lunch time!! 🙄
