My mother (now deceased). I'd have loved to be able to ride with her when she was touring Scotland by bike, using Youth Hostels. My one day would be Edinburgh to Strathpeffer (175 miles). She always assured me that a friend and her did it in a day. This would have been on a 3-speed "tourer). Whenever I challenged her on this, she'd tell me that "the roads were different in those days", to which my Father once said "Yes. They were shorter" 🙂

The big JC. And I'd spend the whole ride wittering on about how riding a single speed is s**t.

Helen Skelton, hopefully (undoubtedly) she'd be quicker than me so I'd have to follow...

My mother when she was in her late teens - she rode a cast off track bike from her parents' neighbour and took it all over south Wales.

She's the person who gave me the love for riding bikes.

She's had a tough year on the health front and riding a bike daily has kept her sane.

Chapeau Mum!

I went for a ride with Steve Roche a few weeks ago. Not that I would have picked him, but it seemed a few of the star struck club members might well have.

he was a cool guy though, and still fast.

My brother, died in '96.

Not a "cyclist", but always used a bicycle as his mode of transport around SW Scotland. Would have been cool to go for a ride with him and stop off for a pint or two at village pubs.
