My probably decade old mtb pump has just stopped working.

I've recently started carrying co2 as an extra to save getting frozen in these dark winter night rides. I've only ever used once in anger for a friend and was sold on it immediately.

Currently carrying a 16g and 25g cartridge so probably only 1.5 tire fulls. Anyone brave enough to ditch the pump entirely?

For my birthday, I was given one of those lush Silca tattico pumps:

Probably only slightly slower than using a CO2 cartridge, and can't ever run out.

Has a flexible tube, so you can't accidentally snap the valve head off (which is *very* annoying).

The head is clipped on, rather than screw-on, so you won't find yourself unscrewing the valve core when you remove it, which is also *very* annoying.

And it's incredibly efficient - gets road tyres up to a very acceptable pressure very quickly.

It is the best way to release endorphins.

Sort of, local routes, couple of hours ride from the door.

Just take water.

Since going tubeless, not yet had any sort of mishap that needed a pump as of yet and happy not be carrying the usual backpack.

Two bikes have pumps clipped on plus co2.

One bike is co2 only at the moment as the only way I've found to get the pump on is electrical tape.

The co2 is only enough to fill one tyre once 2.6 29" tyres. So it's either put a tube in or try and put a tubeless worm in. Hence pumps.

That's good to hear. Just bought one this week to sit on my soon to arrive new bike. Reviews seemed mixed online. Feels like a nice action, but good to hear a real world review.

And no, I couldn't see me going without a pump. I don't like walking.

I have never used CO2, so please correct me if I am wrong, but aren’t they just single use ie generate more waste, whereas your arm and a pump are full of renewable energy!?

They do generate more waste but I see it as an emergency thing rather than something I'd actually use often. My conscience can live with a couple of small metal cylinders a year

I don't like the disposableness either. I carry them when racing but otherwise always a pump. Also gives you another go when you notice you've not got the tyre on properly and have to do it again...
