I can do the lowers myself but want a reliable company/person for my shock and damper service/tuning.
So who's the best?

TFTuned are considered the best

I bought my FOX X2 rear shock from them 18 months ago, included in the price was a full strip down and check, then set up for my weight, riding style and bike included in the price

Its going back next week for a service, collected from my door on Monday, booked in to be serviced on Thursday and should be back with me on Saturday i was told

Should be around the £130 mark

I've used tftuned, really good service and full explanation of work done. Seem to be very honest and care about their work. I asked about a re-tune and rather than trying to sell it to me I was talked out of it because it wouldn't have been beneficial. Found that quite refreshing. Will definitely be using them for as long as I need to.

TF Tuned was the last company I used to service and custom tune a Bomber CR coil shock. Quick turnaround and very helpful on the phone discussing the compression and rebound tuning I wanted done.

Slick Rick’s Ministry of Magic

http://www.slickandslide.co.uk/

He’s on here too I think. A huge range of services, including stanchion replacement, new steerer tubes pressing, EXT demo shocks. PUSH stuff. I’ve sent to TFtuned in the past, to Mojo and all ok. I’ve never had a fork come back feeling as good as from Rick. Even new stuff.

+1 for Slick & Slide

TF do a fine job as well, of course.

Another vote for Rick at Slick & Slide, goes out of his way to sort you out.

TF is who I use, but that’s for just my own ease, as I can book it in, drop it off, head to wind hill for a few hours and pick it up on the way back home.

I find they are the best for infrastructure and ability, but for a fork of shock service, there’s loads of good ones about, those already mentioned and things like sprung and so on

https://plushsuspension.uk are my current preference as they are local-ish. Previously had good experiences with TF (and Mojo and Loco).

I've used TF, Mojo, Loco and Sprung Suspension.
If you are local to the Forest of Dean and can drop them off, go for Sprung. If not just use TF. They make it so easy and they are experts.

Used a few companies before. The last was j tech, forks and shock full service, rear shock had custom tune to suit a Meg neg air can, couldn't believe the improvement both ends after they worked their magic.

Rsf also my go to for creaking or replacing steerer tubes etc

J-Tech have always been good.

I've been a customer of theirs for a few years and no complaints. If you think it's expensive or you can do full servicing yourself, I don't think the labour they charge is excessive and they will test much more rigorously. E.g. They noted my CSU was loose. I'd have never discovered that from just handling it myself.

Tf tuned & J-Tech for me.
@Trailriderjim what options were you given to fix your fork?

I've used J-Tech for the last few years now. Always been happy with their service and advice over the phone.

@z1ppy, re: the CSU, they said it would need a new one. It was out of warranty by a couple of months but they said they'd be hopeful Silverfish would honour it as it was in the first lockdown and I hadn't been able to ride it a lot for a couple of months. Silverfish wouldn't have it so I had to pay for a new one. JTech supplied and fitted it.

Not surprising about Silverfish.

@z1ppy
RSF have sorted creaky crowns out for me in the past.
They can press out and re bond them in if not too bad or replace steerer/ stanchions if that's not possible.

Ha yes avoid silverfish like the plague. If I'm unlucky enough to have a bike with fox kit that fails within warranty period I will generally pay to have it fixed elsewhere rather than have to deal with them.

Cheers Jim, I’d looked on his site to see if he offered the service & couldn’t see anything. Stu, I’d only found out about the rebonding last night, so good to hear a recommendation

OP, do you have any local independents who do shock servicing?

I'm in the SW and found a guy 50 miles / 60 mins drive from me. Rather then deal with couriers and packaging I can book in for a date, drive up and drop off the stuff and then have before either wasted some hours then picked my stuff back up, or driven back later that day.
