Doing a charity c2c in a few weeks in aid of Macmillan and am after an accurate gpx route for it. The route I'm after is the 140 mile Whitehaven start via the sustrans routes (all on road options) via Alston finishing in Tynemouth.
I don't mind if it's 2 separate routes (day 1 then day 2) with Alston being the overnight.

Don't know if this is the proper route:

But it looks about right.

That's a full on road route, missing out virtually every traffic free bit (even the good bits, and in some cases quicker). Definitely not the most leisurely or enjoyable route.
I had one from when I did it, but hard drive died and I have it no more.
Search for it on Gpsies.com. I'm sure it's on there.
Start on that one looks OK, it was my ride home from work, just don't stop at the Kirkstyle on the way out...
There are signs all along the first bit but getting out of (s)whitehaven can be a bit messy and confusing.
Thanks for that! Heard that about Whitehaven as well.
I'd also suggest avoiding the A5086 if your in a group (except for the bit through Frizzington)which you need to do as it's not a good riding road, the drag up out of Whitehaven is also going to be fun 🙂
