I have a white jersey but it's covered in logos, and whilst it has yellowed just a bit in the years I've had it it's not that noticeable given the overall design. You can only really tell if you examine it.

I'm looking at Assos long sleeved ones and they have a plain white one. Now, I like to get bright colours for visibility, and the white looks good but I can't help but think it's going to look awful in a few years' time.

Is this inevitable?

Could you not just buy a yellowish one to pre-empt the discolouration from all the sweat?

I have a white short sleeve which lasted a few years, including some indoor use. (Rapha not Assos though)
No stains that I could see.
But I only used mine on dry days, guess it wasn’t used as extensively as my other jerseys.

'Long sleeved jerseys sweat yellow' doesn't get many hits.

How long do you realistically expect a well used jersey to last?

With repeated use and washes a couple of years is pretty good, no?

I have a red Nike one I use all the time. When did Nike stop making cycling gear? I've had it at least a decade, and it looks fine. I expect a decade out of decent kit. Jerseys don't get the wear and tear that shorts do. I've had the back wear out of a few MTB tops due to Camelbak usage but that's not really an issue for road so I don't think a decade is unreasonable.

I bought a plain white, long sleeve, Endura jersey for use in the Alps in an attempt to reflect the sun and stay cool.

It worked but it became discoloured after a few weeks of riding. Not from mud but from the dust which got ingrained in the fibre and mixed with sweat. The mud washed out but the beige stripes from the sweaty dust were permanent. It looks pretty unpleasant but it still comes out on very hot days. Obviously never been used in the UK.

All my current riding kit is from the sports section of TK Maxx. Mostly plain, flat colours, Adidas and New Balance etc. A fraction of the price of MTB kit and you don't look like a cosplay superhero.

My white road cycling tops are still perfectly white after years of use but when it's wet I wear an overcoat. My white mtb tops are covered in mud stains that won't come out whatever I do. No sweat stains on either.
