On our way to Whitby now. Is there any routes to do an hour or so in the mornings then off to Saltaire on Sunday night so will go out Monday morning for a ride there if there's any nice routes?
There's the cinder path that heads towards Scarbados from Whitby. Not exactly mountain biking but it's a nice ride. Dalby isn't far away if you fancy boring yourself to tears.
Been to dalby. Totally agree it's dull. I just want to turn my legs over. Trying to either run 5k or ride 10 miles a day minimum for December.
Bingley Bash near Saltaire if you want a shortish one.
There are various ways to make it better, that version shouldn't take more than 1hr 30 mins or so.
There is good riding in Shipley Glen above Saltaire, but I'll let a local help you with the best way around.
If you just want to spin your legs you can't go wrong with the Cinder Track. If you ride to Ravenscar you can get a drink in the hotel there before the return. A round trip from Whitby would be around 18 miles.
If you don't mind driving, the Cyclehub in Fryupdale near Danby will give you routes.
Dalby does have good riding away from the trail centre stuff. There was riding there long before they built it!
From Saltaire i’d prObably ride towards leeds on cannal. through tong park up golf course bridleway to hawksworth coming back through esholt woods mtb trails (via bridleway turning off coach road. Figure of 8 so Back up through tong park through equestrian centre onto baildon moor. Up to trig and down from there through shipley glen. Baildon moor has lots of tracks some of which are good fun if you want to put in some extra bits. Scout hut trail is fun although accessed by crossing golf course
Whitby to Ravenscar and back is a pleasant ride. Apart from the fact it's December 🙂 (disclaimer I'm away from home so it could be nice back home in Saltburn)
If you don't mind a quick drive to get there you could go to Guisborough. All sorts of possibilities there.
Bingley bash is a better option at this time of year.
Baildon Moor will be a total bog given recent weather.
Bingley Bash will take more than 1.5hrs.
Head up on to Baildon Moor. Across the bridge in Saltaire, west along Coach Rd keep going when it turns to gravel road, turn right at end up track and then the worlds your oyster.

Bingley Bash is 2hrs taking it very steady, that is not getting out of breath steady. That's starting from the centre of Bingley and going up Altar Lane. Apart from one field it's pretty well draining so is doable at any time of year. Can be interesting when it's icy!
