You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Got a work trip over to the US and flights up to Vancouver are a cheap option to get out of the heat.
About to take a look at accomodation but in reality whats it like there when it's on. Probably going to be on the first weekend when the EWS is in town and till the wednesday.
Keen to see some of the events, take some pics and head off for some riding - so who has been/lives there and any STW want to go for a ride if I make it.
Everything should all be open unless they're using a particular trail for a race, bike park or valley trails. Tons of trails so you'll be fine whatever is on.
Accommodation is at a premium when Crankworx is on. the Listel Hotel is not bad, central and most of the staff are riders. The Ava Hotel is also good and set up to accept riders. Both have bike storage, pools and tubs.
Village and park is very busy that week but excellent riding in the valley particularly on the Westside. Squamish is a close drive and the riding there is phenomenal.
The park is busy throughout crankworx. Trail closures wil be in effect as above depending on the event and there will be park trails as part of the ews.
The valleys network is largely uneffected as the added traffic is easiky absorbed into the huge amount of trails. Ews will add traffic I the valley, but only negative volumes on the published course.
Our guides will know how to avoid the course or get you into the best spots to watch the racing.
We have a room available still if you want to be in a place with like minded riders, with transfers, food and guiding included!
We have a single occupancy supplement but no "crankworx supplement" 😉
Cheers, just waiting to confirm my dates with work, might be in touch - details on your Website??
Yep, email address and package info all online.
Youll queue a bit longer. Ill knock some laps out and show you the trails if you want.
bike park will be busy and if this weather carries on then destroyed too. but if you have never been you have to do it. its awesome. im happy to take you for some trail rides outside of the park too if you would like. some incredible stuff if you pedal.
The Whistler HI hostel is a good option if you're on a budget. The beds are bigger and more comfortable than hostel beds in the UK. It is outside the village though so easier with a rental car. Also the hostel cafe there isn't great for food imho so plan to cook.
I didn't ride or stop long in Squamish but it looked a decent cheap alternative to Whistler, especially if you'd be driving to trails anyway and aren't bothered by night life.
How does Pemberton compare to Squamish and Whistler for the trail riding?
I only stopped there for a few hours last year when driving through. Great bike shop though where I managed to get a few tees!
The shop had a map of the trails in the store.
Cheers guys, I'll do a thread revive nearer the time, only got 4 days but will be fun, new bike arrives in a week ready for some bigger stuff
How does Pemberton compare to Squamish and Whistler for the trail riding?
OMG,OMG,OMG...Pemberton is ace. It doesn't have the volume of trails of either of the other towns but there is some great stuff out there. BUT it gets very very very hot in summer and (some) trails turn to powder.
It's a great early/late season spot or after a summer downpour.
If you're not sure what to ride, check out Trailforks and/or Bikepirate - I'd recommend following the Nimby race course if you're XC/AM orientated as it gives you a good variety of trails to follow.
If you're good with rock rolls/slabs, try Cream Puff, Tower of Power or Lumpys epic.
Unusually for the Sea to Sky corridor of BC, there's also some great views (most other trails are deep in forestry).
I didn't ride or stop long in Squamish
And that's where you went wrong 😉
