Last year I went the last week of August and the first week of September. The first week was pretty wet, whilst the second week was amazing, although you will need a jacket in the evenings.

The only problem going at that time is the early closing of the chair lifts, although we ended up using the gondola when the chair lifts close.

I can't comment on the weather any later than that.

2 days experience: day 1 warm and sunny, day 2 misty, cold and chucked it down all day. HTH.

September is a good time to go as the crowds have all gone, the trails have been maintained and it's not too dusty.
A bit of rain is good for keeping the surface nice.
Mmmm tacky.

+1 wall eater.. Primo time of year for BC.My favourite time!

First dates that sell out for us because of the superb weather (typically), quiet bike park and superb xc trail riding conditions.

Mid September is normally the turning point but the seasons definitely getting later!

Sorry to butt in your post....

BearBack - have posted asking questions before, you say that beginning of Sept is a busy time. When would you recommend booking for Sept 2014?
Looking to come out with possibly a group of 8 max.
Flights are available but think its bit too early to book them, any thoughts on them had herd best time is 11 months in advance from your return date?

Cheers

Hey Brendan,

We tend to sell the majority of September dates pretty well in our early booking offer period which is anywhere from the September prior to the end of December.
The remainder of dates tend to book up once the Christmas hangover has passed, up to now.

We sold out for the first 2 weeks in September a good few of months ago and If you are a large group needing a large portion of the rooms.. the earlier the better. I think as long as you have plans in place before the end of this year, you should be good.

Flights wise... I don't track how rates fluctuate with regard to how far out they are booked.. but consider that flights are the most expensive we've seen them..with taxes and fees (disguised fuel surcharges) trending higher.
Your airline options are Air Transat (Canadian Affair), BC, AC and Virgin for Direct.. KLM and Lufthansa for indirect (although imo, you need to be saving in excess of 100quid to justify the indirect PITA) If you see a price you're happy with and you're committed.. might be worth a booking.
Also consider contacting the airline direct for group bookings.. you never know, they may cut you a deal for 8 seats. Canadian Affair often have 10% codes in circulation.. that they may offer you to secure your group.

Brendan: If you're in Whistler I'd take that offer up. BearBack guiding was the icing on the cake when we stayed with them last year. By the Friday they had us riding stuff we wouldn't have attempted at the start of the week.

We'll be going back to BBB for more in 14.
